An August heatwave will see temperatures soaring this week, possibly reaching as high as 28 degrees.
Apart from a few light showers in the west, most areas will remain dry.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said the fine weather is expected to last until Friday.
"At the moment it looks like high pressure is dominating until Friday," he added.
"There is a little bit of uncertainty around what happens after that.
"But some weather models do show that the fine spell continuing into next weekend.
"There will be little rain fall for most of the country for the next seven days."
