An asylum seeker at a Monaghan Direct Provision centre is recovering after being hospitalised last week.
It's alleged that the female resident received medical care in hospital after a suicide attempt.
It's understood that she has since returned to the centre.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to an incident at the St Patrick's Direct Provision Centre outside Monaghan town on Thursday afternoon.
A Garda spokesperson said a female was being attended to, and no criminal offences were disclosed.
The Department of Children and Youth Affairs, which manages the Direct Provision system in Ireland has been contacted for a statement.
