Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan Monaghan Deputy Niamh Smyth has received assurances from Minister for Disabilities Anne Rabbitte that a dedicated respite house will be procured for County Monaghan to cater for up to 85 families.
Commenting Deputy Smyth said at the moment we have Annalee Respite House in Cootehill catering for families from both counties Cavan and Monaghan on a bi-weekly basis. This isn't acceptable and even if it could provide respite on a weekly basis, Annalee still wouldn't be able to cater for both counties due to demand currently.
The local TD says she has spoken to Minister Anne Rabbitte who is the Minister with responsibility for Disabilities and she has said that the plan is to make Annalee Respite Centre in Cootehill an Adult only Respite Service. Before this can happen a house will be procured by the HSE to provide Respite for up to 85 families in County Monaghan. Deputy Smyth says the Minister said these plans are at an advanced stage.
