The Association of Ukrainians in Ireland Cavan branch is holding a charity classical music concert to unite communities through the power of music. It will feature talented Ukrainian artists who will deliver unforgettable performances of classical compositions by European and Ukrainian composers.
The event takes place at the Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Feilm, Cavan this Sunday, October the 1st at 2pm and all proceeds will be dedicated to acquiring vital medical and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine. Sergiy Balan is Chairman of the board of directors of the Association and has been living in Cavan for 22 years. He says Ukrainians now living in the region have been supported greatly by the local community.
Sergiy added that while life in Kyiv for his family and friends is difficult, they are holding firm and are determined to stand up for their homeland. "It's not so easy; my brother actually lives in Kyiv and they are getting used to the alarm sounding every day that the Russians are coming," he continued.
"The Russians are trying to destroy the infrastructure and Cavan Hospital has donated a generators that is going to help with the water supply infrastructure."
