As Aer Lingus pilots voted overwhelmingly for strike action at a time when many people expect to jet off on holidays, a Monaghan travel agent says assistance is available to travellers.
Mark Clifford of Hanrahan Travel in Monaghan Town said, right now, the pilots' union IALPA and the airline are locked in "a game of chess" where there is grandstanding on the part of the union. This is impacting bookings for Aer Lingus and also causing fear among passengers who have pre-booked flights, Mr Clifford told the Joe Finnegan Show.
Both Mark Clifford and another commentator said it is likely Aer Lingus will back down to the pilots' pay demands and strike action averted, however, even if it goes ahead, help and information is available to passengers:
