Today marks one year since the tragic death of Ashling Murphy. The 23-year-old was killed after she was attacked in Tullamore. Ms Murphy, a primary schoolteacher, was out for a run when she was attacked and killed along the Grand Canal in Tullamore.
Her death sent shockwaves across the country. Her family and friends will attend an anniversary mass this evening in St Brigid’s Church in Mountbolus to mark the first anniversary of the death.
Meanwhile, Durrow National School, were she taught, will remember Ashling with a special school anniversary mass that will be led by the pupils and staff.
