Several artists from the Shannonside Northern Sound region have been awarded a €3,000 grant by The Arts Council to help them continue to make new and original work during the covid-19 crisis.
Demand from artists was very high, with almost 1,000 applicants, and the Arts Council said it was impressed by the quality of the applications.
Visual artist Eileen Ferguson and musician Augustine Bannatyne-Leudar, both from Monaghan, received the grant, as did Cavan musicians Mark St. John Ellis, Clare Martyn and Eileen Tackney.
Meanwhile, James Carthy from Roscommon was also successful with his traditional arts application.
