Speaking at the event, Monaghan based artist Niamh O’Connor highlighted how this new pilot not only benefits remote working hubs.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys visit the M:Tek Digital Hub in Monaghan this morning to launch the Art in the Hubs Pilot Scheme. This pilot initiative is being rolled out in partnership with the Contemporary Irish Arts Society and will see unique pieces of art put on display in remote working facilities.

Speaking at the event, Monaghan based artist Niamh O’Connor highlighted how this new pilot not only benefits remote working hubs but also helps showcase the talent and culture that she believes is so "enriched” within rural communities. "It’s a great idea," she told Northern Sound. "It’s a wonderful step forward for rural Ireland in terms of both the digital hub as a concept itself but also in terms of showcasing Irish artists to their own public within rural communities.

Also speaking to Northern Sound at today's event, Cavan artist Michelle Harton said; "It's a great experience to be here today. It gives an opportunity for local artists to have their work purchased and put into these digital hubs.

“To hear the Minister today say that she would love to see in the future for artists to have studios in the same place as business offices, I think that would be an amazing combination to see that art and business can work together. They’re both creative. It’s great to see this finally being recognised, both sectors can only flourish from this."
