Approval has been granted to three new special education classrooms at St Daigh's primary school in Inniskeen.
The rural Monaghan school got the go-ahead from the Department of Education recently, with funding also approved.
Around 230 children attend the school and the S.E.N. classrooms will allow it to better cater for children with additional needs.
The news has been welcomed by local Minister Heather Humphreys, who has described it as "a huge boost for everyone in the local community".
