Approval has been granted for two new housing developments in the Monaghan area. The news was confirmed to Northern Sound by Independent County Councillor Paudge Connolly today. The first project will see 21 new houses built at the former Kelly's factory site in Cartolvin. "This old industrial area had become an eyesore, so it will be fantastic to see it revitalised with a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes," said Cllr Connolly. Additionally, 51 new homes will be constructed in Latlorcan, adjacent to the Corlat roundabout on the Monaghan bypass, "this is hugely welcomed news for Monaghan, as the county council works to address the significant demand for new housing in the area," the local councillor stated.
Cllr Connolly continued; "Beyond just the homes themselves, these developments often include new amenities like parks, play areas and community spaces - all of which create opportunities for social interaction and improved health and wellbeing. Ensuring there are sufficient, affordable options for people at all stages of life is crucial." The independent councillor is also calling for a portion of the new homes to be set aside specifically for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. "It's essential that we cater to the needs of our most vulnerable residents as well," he stressed.
