Applegreen has been called on to make a donation to a local charity after a promotion on Friday caused major disruption in Monaghan.
It sold petrol and diesel for 24.7 cent a litre between 12 noon and 1pm at various locations across the country.
However, the demand from motorists meant most of the town centre was blocked by traffic with delays also reported on the bypass.
Local Councillor Seán Conlon accused Applegreen of "corporate greed" and has called for it to make a donation to the local Meals on Wheels group which saw its deliveries delayed by over an hour on Friday.
Local Link bus services were also delayed with numerous callers to Northern Sound reporting missed doctor and NCT appointments and other delays.
Gardaí were forced to close some other filling stations across the country because of disruption.
In a statement to Northern Sound News on Friday Applegreen apologised for the disruption caused but it did not confirm if there had been any engagement with local Gardaí beforehand.
