Detectives in Bailieborough are investigating a number burglaries which occurred in the Kingscourt sub-district over the last month. Gardaí are encouraging anyone with information or who noticed any suspicious activity in the areas impacted to get in touch. Between the hours of 5.30pm and 7pm on the 6th of January, three houses were broken into. According to Garda Lisa Stevens, two properties were in the Collops area of Kingscourt. Whilst all homeowners were away, the culprits forced open the door and stole a quantity of cash.
The third property involved in this spate of burglaries was in the Shamrock Drive Estate. Although the homeowner had only left for a brief time, when what has been described as “opportunistic” criminals forced their way into the property, ransacked it and left with a substantial amount of money. Gardaí are anxious to hear from anyone who noticed a silver saloon car in the area on the 6th of January or the days leading up to it. Elsewhere in Ballyjamesduff, between the 20th and 27th of January a property in Killyteane, Crosskeys was broken into via a rear door. No items were taken during the course of the burglary but significant damage was caused to the rear door. Between the 25th and 27th of January in the neighbouring townland of Tullytreane, Crosskeys another property was also broken into. Again entry was through a rear door and window which were forced open. The culprits were not successful in gaining any items of value but all the same, Gardaí are anxious to identify them.
