Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to a number of burglaries which occurred in Co Cavan. According to Garda Lisa Stephens, Gardaí in Cavan are investigating three burglaries which took place in the Cedar Avenue, Gallops area of Cavan between the hours of 6 and 7pm on the 6th of January. In the first property the homeowner returned home at 7pm approximately and discovered that their home was broken into and an upstairs bedroom was ransacked. A quantity of cash, an engagement ring and an eternity ring were all taken.
Similar to this burglary, again the homeowner returned to find a rear window broken and the house ransacked. A substantial amount of jewellery was taken including wedding rings, an eternity ring, gold chains and an engagement ring. All of which is not only monetary value but of huge sentimental value, according to Garda Stephens.
In relation to the third burglary reported in this area, the homeowner disturbed the culprits who fled the scene immediately in a small silver hatch back type vehicle similar to that of a Volkswagen Scirocco. Staying in Cavan, also on the 6th of January a burglary occurred at Waterfern Avenue between 6 and 7:40pm. Again, the homeowner returned home to find a rear window has been forced open. While they did not take any items of value, they did cause great upset to the homeowner.
