Gardaí are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Co Monaghan yesterday afternoon. The R188 Road between Cootehill and Rockcorry remains closed this afternoon after a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving two lorries that occurred shortly before 4pm yesterday afternoon.
The driver of one of the lorries involved, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other lorry was uninjured. Part of the R188 between Cootehill and Rockcorry remains closed this afternoon while Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene.
Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R188 in between Cootehill and Rockcorry between 3:45pm and 4:15pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
