A formal public appeal for information into the deaths of two young people in the Belturbet bombing in December 1972 was made by Gardaí this morning.
On the evening of the 28th, December 1972 three bombs exploded in Belturbet, Clones and Pettigo.
Patrick Stanley (16) and Geraldine O'Reilly (15) were killed in the explosion in Belturbet.
Last September, a senior investigating officer was appointed to lead the investigation, and an incident room was established at Ballyconnell Garda Station.
This morning, Assistant Commissioner Michael McElgunn, and Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern of the Cavan, Monaghan ad Louth Garda Division made a formal public appeal for information.
They also provided an update on how the Garda investigation into the bombings has progressed so far.
