Peadar Toibín, the leader of Aontú and Sinn Féin leader, Mary-Lou McDonald, are to meet with members of campaign group, Special Needs Active Parents, or SNAP

Of course the event, in the Hotel Kilmore, is being held in Cavan County Councillor Sarah O'Reilly's home constituency who was recently nominated to run as Aontú's candidate in the general election.

A range of topics are expected to be discussed, including the Government's handling of the Family and Care referenda, homelessness, and crime.

Figures released to Aontú by the Minister for Justice show that 11,467 people were arrested for drug offences throughout the district which covers Cavan, Monaghan and Louth.

Speaking to Northern Sound news, Cllr O'Reilly says she was delighted the party had the confidence in her to run.

Overall, turnout in Cavan was 55.49 per cent with 34,287 Cavan voters going to the booths.

She says the state needs to invest in the people who are investing in vulnerable children.

Mr Tinev believes Cavan Town is a prime location for investment in the business and tourism fronts.
