Anti-social behaviour is set to be stamped out altogether in Ballybay. That's according to Cathaoirleach of the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District, Cllr Sean Gilliland, who says local Gardai are currently dealing with a "spate of incidents" there.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Gilliland said the incidents include criminal damage, vandalism and people making a general nuisance of themselves. He pointed out that public safety comes first and as a result, anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
Cllr Gilliland added that Ballybay is a peaceful, family town and any form of anti-social behaviour in and around its environs will be stopped by "the full rigours of the law". "It's not acceptable and people just need to cop on. The full rigours of the law will apply when they are caught.
"And, it will be a very sore point that they will be up in front of the local judge. Our local judge says he doesn't tolerate anything like that. So, punishments will be severe; people can walk by objects on the street without damaging them.
"They are there for the betterment of the street and the town and my advice is to just leave them alone.
