Another orange weather alert for low temperatures and ice will come into effect at 7pm this evening.
It will impact inland counties, as well as Donegal and Leitrim, while the rest of the country will be under a Status Yellow alert until midday tomorrow.
Conditions on paths and roads will remain treacherous before a thaw finally kicks in this weekend. There are also major concerns for animals in the freezing conditions. Elizabeth Hamilton from the Kildare/West Wicklow SPCA says it’s been very challenging:
