This Good Friday will mark the 50th Anniversary since the death of Archbishop John Charles McQuaid. A native of Co Cavan and born in Cootehill, John Charles was known as one of the most powerful figures within the Catholic Church here in Ireland.
However, the life and legacy of Archbishop John Charles McQuaid has faced much controversy and criticism down through the years. Despite his faults, Irish Independent columnist, Mary Kenny, believes that through her own research, the Cavan clergy man had a "redeeming" side to him.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Mary said she came to the conclusion that there was "two sides" to Archbishop John Charles McQuaid.
