An American Priest with links to County Cavan will be beatified later today.
Fr Michael McGivney's parents were originally from Crosserlough and
Castlerahan.
Fr McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in the United States in 1882.
He was born in the US to Irish parents, Patrick from Drumkilly in
Crosserlough and Mary Lynch from Castlerahan.
The group is described as being "designed to strengthen the Catholic faith
of men and their families while providing financial protection when they
suffered the death of the breadwinner".
He died of TB at the age of 38.
The miracle attributed to Fr McGivney which allows him to be beatified saw
an unborn child cured of what was described as an incurable condition in
2013.
Pope Francis earlier this year approved the case for Beatification, the
final step before someone is declared a Saint.
The mass will take place in St Joseph's Cathedral in Hartford Connecticut at
3 o'clock this afternoon.
