Services at Cavan and Monaghan Covid Vaccination Centres have been amalgamated with suitable hubs identified in both counties. Outreach support will facilitate all those seeking vaccination.
In Monaghan a building on St Davnet’s campus has been refurbished and will be opened to the public to facilitate the Autumn/Winter Covid vaccination programme. An outreach clinic is scheduled once a month on Saturdays at the new Primary Care Centre in Carrickmacross.
Meanwhile, in Co Cavan the Covid vaccination clinic is located in Drumalee GAA club, operating on Mondays and Tuesday and alternate Saturdays. A second clinic will operate from the Old Courthouse in Ballyjamesduff once a month on Fridays.
Senator Robbie Gallagher told Northern Sound that he received confirmation of these latest developments over the last few days. He added that the local vaccination programme had been afforded a decommissioned ambulance in recent weeks and it will be utilised for the administration of vaccines and boosters to people who are housebound, and to residents and staff in public and private residential nursing homes.
"I am advised that the Cavan and Monaghan Covid vaccination service will continue to work with other services in a supportive and assistive manner where service needs dictate. This will include supporting the Flu Peer Vaccination Programme; providing the Covid vaccinations programme in Loughan House, Blacklion; and supports to the School Immunisation Programme.
"Further plans for the use of the Mobile Vaccination Unit include travelling to hard reach locations that have a poor local transport network, and to the homeless, IPAS and people from Ukraine," he concluded.
