A number of projects in Monaghan and Cavan are set to benefit from a share of a biodiversity funding pot.
Six projects in Cavan will receive 98 and a half thousand euro while seven projects in County Monaghan will be awarded just over €100, 000.
The Department of Heritage released €2.8 million to 31 local authorities across the country to fund 233 community projects. The Local Biodiversity Action Fund projects include biodiversity education and awareness projects, bird conservation projects, invasive species management and wetland surveys.
Some of the projects being run by Monaghan County Council include a Flora Book of County Monaghan, which, was awarded €18,078, a Community Catchment Mapping Project of the Dromore River will receive €21,250 and over €5,000 will go towards the Development of a Woodland Bat Monitoring Survey. In Cavan, Pollinator plans for four towns in County Cavan received €23,800, Cavan County Swift Project is to get €15,963 and the Wetlands Survey is to receive €20,000.
