Almost €1 million has been announced to make local roads more climate resistant.
The funding is part of a €17.3 million climate adaption investment programme, which will aid works to 432 roads projects across the country.
€522,000 has been approved for Cavan County Council to carry out upgrades at 11 locations, while in Monaghan, €440,000 is to be shared among 13 upgrade works,
Transport Minister Eamon Ryan says the funding will support local authorities in dealing with future challenges posed by climate change and severe weather events.
