Since Storm Éowyn, which hit Ireland exactly two weeks ago tonight, eir has reconnected over 16,000 properties in Monaghan and almost 15,000 in Cavan to their phone and broadband network. In a statement, eir ranks County Monaghan among the counties "most severely impacted" by the storm a fortnight ago.
As of today, around 16, 307 homes and businesses in Monaghan have been reconnected, accounting for most of the confirmed faults. In Cavan, around 14,800 homes and businesses have been reconnected. Out of the approximately 30 mobile sites initially affected by the storm across Monaghan, all are now fully operational and the majority in Cavan.
According to the utility company, over 265,000 customers across Ireland have had their voice and broadband services restored, and more than 900 mobile sites have been brought back online. A spokesperson for eir said since storm Éowyn, they have focused on securing damaged infrastructure, working with the ESB to restore power to critical sites, deploying generators, and clearing fallen trees. "Our technicians are working around the clock," she said.
