Cavan-Monaghan has an adult vaping population of 8,976 individuals and 7,361 are either current or former smokers.

Almost 9,000 adults in Cavan and Monaghan vape, most of whom are ex-smokers trying to quit. And, analysis carried out by the Reduced Risk Products Association shows that if the Government restricts the flavours of vapes to tobacco only, then 1,619 vapers in the Northern Sound region could return to smoking. 95% of vapes sold in Ireland are non-tobacco flavours. This would also result in over  11,821,062 additional cigarettes being smoked annually in Cavan-Monaghan, the RRPA research claims.

RRPA is a professional trade body leading who aims to lead the industry in setting the highest standards for the legal, adult vaping and reduced risk products market in Ireland. A report published by the RRPA says smoking remains the single biggest threat to public health in Ireland, resulting in 6,000 deaths and 44,000 hospitalisations per year.

If 1,619 adult vapers started smoking again, it could result in an additional 810 smoking-related deaths in Cavan-Monaghan. Cavan-Monaghan has an adult vaping population of 8,976 individuals and 7,361 are either current or former smokers who are vaping to reduce or quit their cigarette consumption.
