Millrace Drama Group based in Mullagh, Co Cavan emerged victorious over the weekend at the All Ireland Confined Drama Finals in Ballina.
The local group who performed 'Dancing at Lunacy' took first place in the one act play, with local actor Eoghan Yore also claiming the 'best actor' award.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Irene Yore who directed the award-winning play said she is "delighted" with the result.
While fewer groups took part in the drama festival this year than any other year, Irene revealed that many groups across the country have not reformed as a result of the Covid pandemic.
Despite this, Irene said Millrace Drama Group were very fortunate and took part in outdoor performances during the lockdown to keep the arts alive and thriving in Mullagh.
Irene went on to "thank" her cast and all those involved for their tireless commitment to the group, which involved plenty of long nights, hard work and great craic:
The Millrace Drama Group will be performing their award-winning adaptation of 'Dancing at Lunacy' this Sunday in Mullagh Hall at 7.30pm. Tickets will be available at the door.
