The CEO of Cancer Trials Ireland believes an All-Ireland strategy would help improve the health of cancer patients living on both sides of the border.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show earlier today, Eibhlin Mulroe spoke about the public webinar on clinical trials, which will be hosted by Cancer Trials Ireland on Friday May 20th at 2pm.
The Monaghan native also claimed research along with clinical trials have resulted in great strides being made in the treatment of all cancers.
However, she added that 'more investment is needed' to support those living with cancer, particularly in border counties.
She believes patients living in Monaghan or Donegal should be able to travel to places like Belfast or Derry to participate in life-saving clinical trials and vice-versa, and says more funding is needed to meet the Government's strategic plan which calls for 6% of patients to be on clinical trails, as opposed to the current figure of 2%.
