Exactly two weeks on from when Storm Éowyn hit Ireland and 500 customers in Cavan remain without heat and light today. The latest figure was released by ESB just a few minutes ago. According to the ESB's Powercheck website homes, farms and businesses near Virginia, Bailieboro and Killeshandra are still without.
Over the past couple of days the utility company seems to have moved to restoring power in areas where there are isolated pockets of properties without. Here in MIlltown, Monaghan Town, crews repaired a fallen pole to give power back to four homes. In Tullycorbet, another crew brought power back to two houses although their neighbour in between had power restored before that.
In a statement, ESB said: "As of 10:30am this morning approximately 500 customers across Co Cavan and some small pockets of customers remain in Co Monaghan. "
