A Cavan-Monaghan TD has called the staff vacancy rate at a local children's disability network 'shocking.' Sinn Féin TD Pauline Tully said that the lack of staff in the Cavan
Children's Disability Network Team is placing a heavy burden on the existing staff. In addition, the vacancy rate is contributing to 'extremely high' waiting lists for assessment and services for children attending Cavan CDNT.
The TD has called for a more strategic plan to be developed by relevant government departments to increase the number of third level therapy places to aid the recruitment and retention of therapists. Pay increases have also not been delivered to staff, according to the deputy. The Sinn Féin TD concluded that more efforts are needed to meet the growing vacancy rates in fundamental special needs services.
