Alan Johnston was co-opted on to Monaghan County Council for Fine Gael last week.
The Monaghan Town native took the seat that David Maxwell has held for nearly 21 years. David was elected to the 34th Dail recently and had to vacate his seat on Monaghan County Council.
Cllr Johnston sits on the Monaghan Local Community Development Committee and was recently elected to be Captain of Rossmore Golf Club. The local councillor is also an accountant and runs Johnston & Co Accountants Ltd in Monaghan Town. He says he looks forward to the next few years as a representative for the people of the Monaghan Municipal District.
