A storm is brewing between two neighbouring GAA clubs after a song purporting to be from the senior men's squad of Drumlane GFC was posted to social media. Drumlane GAA club has "disassociated itself totally" from the dis track and its content "in the strongest possible manner" calling it "disgraceful". The County Cavan club also branded the song "vile and disgraceful".
Northern Sound understands the song was AI-generated and was shared between members of Drumlane and the Belturbet Rory O'Moore's. The neighbouring clubs each have players who are friends with, related to, or live near, members of their rival club.
The song, which was meant in a spirit of friendly banter and rivalry, may have caused upset among some members, prompting Drumlane GFC to prepare a statement in response. The statement posted on X says "We totally condemn the sentiments expressed... and we apologise to their players, members and supporters." Both teams meet for a Division 2 league match this Thursday evening.
