The Agriculture Minister has launched a new fertiliser initiative at Ballyhaise College that will "reduce dependency on chemical fertiliser in a sustainable manner".
Minister McConalogue says the Teagasc Soils, Nutrients, and Fertiliser campaign is in response to "unprecedented fertiliser prices" and potential supply concerns.
The campaign will see Teagasc assemble easy to use information that will assist farmers in optimising their use of valuable plant nutrients.
Minister McConalogue added that this "roadmap" to reducing dependency on chemical fertiliser will "be good for the environment and good for the pocket".
