The African and Irish communities in Cavan and Monaghan are "still learning from each other".
Today is Africa Day, which celebrates diversity and the African diaspora on the island of Ireland.
Cavan's Susuana Komolafe is the founder of the Afro Diaspora Centre Ireland, which supports African and Caribbean communities living in Ireland.
The group advocates, organises events and provides supports for African people, and has a regional branch that represents those living in Cavan, Monaghan and the Midlands.
Susuana says both the Irish and African communities have a responsibility to promote and develop integration.
