Aer Lingus and the pilots union IALPA are being told 'urgency' is need to resolve their pay dispute. Aer Lingus management has invited pilots to talks ahead of a work-to-rule beginning on Wednesday.
244 flights have been cancelled because of the action that will also include a full work stoppage next Saturday. Both sides made claims and counter-claims over their availability for talks over the weekend.
President of the Irish Airline Pilots Association, Captain Mark Tighe, says everything is a possibility but at this stage they're not considering an all-out strike: The company have finally written to us and asked us for a meeting," Mr Tighe said, "However, they have attached pre-conditions to that invitation of what to talk about and cannot talk about at the meeting so, we're discussing their pre-conditions at the moment but, we see this as a positive."
