Garda Lisa Stephens of Bailieboro Garda Station is urging all pedestrians and cyclists to wear high visibility lighting and clothing.

With darker mornings and evenings drawing in and local students back to school, Gardaí are warnings locals of increased traffic and people walking on roads.

Garda Lisa Stephens of Bailieboro Garda Station is urging all pedestrians and cyclists to wear high visibility lighting and clothing.

For motorists, Garda Stephens says it's vitally important to ensure your vehicle is in good working order , with checks carried out on indicators and lighting regularly.

She added that the same applies for farming machinery: "If you're operating farm machinery again, ensure all lighting and indicators are in working order and, please do use them.," Garda Stephens advises, "You may know you're turning into the next field but the vehicle behind you won't. And, if you're towing trailers or any other machinery make sure they have lights and working indicators."
