A Status Yellow warning remains in place until 10am following heavier than expected snow in the early hours of this morning.

A weather forecaster is hopeful the Northern Sound region will miss most of the storm's impact.

In September we will see at that stage if we need to make a plan.

It's because of a phenomenon called a Sudden Stratospheric Warming Event.
