Today is Adult Safeguarding Day, which aims to raise a greater understanding of adult abuse and safeguarding across services and wider society.
This year's emphasis is on preventing abuse by supporting the decision making of all adults and responding to abuse by reporting the immediate risks or ongoing concerns.
It's an initiative that is actively supported by Safeguarding Ireland and the HSE, and will see a range of information events held around the Northern Sound region.
Grainne Cowan, HSE Social Work Team Leader based in Monaghan says there are supports available to those who need them.
