The addition of The Cavan Way to the government's "Walk Scheme" will put west Cavan on the map.
That's according to Blacklion councillor John Paul Feeley, who adds that it will improve the region's tourism product.
The scheme provides funding to farmers and other landowners to maintain walking trails that travel through their holdings.
11 landowners are set to receive funding to maintain "The Cavan Way", which is a 26 kilometre walking trail.
A new Rural Recreation Officer has also been appointed in Co Cavan to enhance outdoor amenities, and Councillor Feeley says this is a welcome move:
