Monaghan and Cavan have clinched gold and silver medals in today’s National Tidy Town’s awards. While Trim in Co Meath is Ireland's tidiest town for 2022.
In Monaghan, Glaslough emerged victorious by clinching the Gold Medal and County winner title. Carrickmacross also received a Gold medal and second placing while Monaghan Town took third place and bagged a shiny silver medal to boot.
Down the road in Cavan - the county town itself clinched the Gold medal and county title while Redhills took second place and Lough Gowna third. Swanlinbar was the lucky recipient of an Endeavour Award.
In nearby Co Meath, Trim took the national title and has emerged as Ireland’s Tidy Towns champion. Cavan Monaghan and North Meath Minister, Heather Humphreys told Northern Sound that she is very proud of the high achieving towns in her region.
She paid special tribute to Trim for what she described as "a moment of great pride for the area". The Minister pointed to the time and effort that volunteers put into making their towns and villages a better place in which to live.
She added their commitment and dedication to their community was "inspiring".
