A United Ireland will be better for everyone on this island.
That's according to Deputy Matt Carthy who was speaking on this afternoon's Wider View .
He said the conversations and discussions on the subject matter must begin, and the structures needed, put in place.
He added that while the Northern Sound region has been 'devastated' and 'frustrated' by partition, the North has changed drastically.
Deputy Carthy said what is needed now is discourse.
"We know that campaigns change things," he continued.
"We know that the campaign itself will awaken people to the conversation and to the realities of both sets of circumstances - either the status quo or a new united Ireland
"Of course there are people who won't make their mind up until their questions are answered.
"Therefore, it is up to all of us to work together constructively to ensure that those questions are answered in a positive and constructive way."
