The NCT operator is facing a backlash after announcing it will no longer accept cash payments. All appointments must be paid for in advance online or by postal order.
NCT Ireland says the change will come into effect at test centres in the coming months. But Aontu leader Peadar Tóibín, says the move will make it more difficult for some people to pay for the compulsory test. "It's a terrible decision by the NCT and it should be reversed," he continued.
"Cash is the most inclusive way to pay for items. It also means that people, no matter what their age; their skill level; their access to internet or smart phones; they have the ability to participate fully in society.
