A man in his 60s has died following a house fire in County Monaghan.
Fire crews arrived at the location near Bawn close to Cavan/Monaghan border at approximately 7.50pm on Saturday night.
Emergency services which included firefighters, ambulance personnel and Gardaí attended the house blaze in Lisinisky, Bawn close to the Cavan/Monaghan border.
Two fire crews from Carrickmacross and Ballybay attended the scene at 7.50 pm on Saturday night last.
On arrival to the scene of the fire, fire fighters had to avail of breathing apparatus to enter the home.
A man in his 60s was taken from the single storey cottage and was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where he was later pronounced dead.
Chief fire officer with Monaghan Fire Services is reminding homeowners to also have a fully operational fire alarm and to regularly do checks on your fire alarms in your home.
Gardaí are currently investigating this fatal fire near Bawn.
