A Co Fermanagh woman is heading off on a renewable energy volunteer program with Ecoswel later this year, a charity which focuses on the design and development of renewable energy in developing countries like Peru.
Bronagh McCaffrey from Lisnaskea works as a Broadcast Engineer for RTE in Dublin, and is hoping to make the move to a career in renewable engineering, something which she says is "on the rise."
But before that, Bronagh has planned a number of fundraising events that will make it possible for her to travel to Peru in October and offer help t communities who need it the most.
As a result, Bronagh has pledged to do a 'THREE-MANAGH' challenge today which is a sprint triathlon consisting of a three mile run, swimming approximately 0.5 miles and then cycling a further 12 miles.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Bronagh revealed that while many third world countries have no energy, she hopes to support some of these "vulnerable communities" by helping them move from no energy to renewable energy instead:
