The latest figures on TB has been released by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The indications are that reactor cattle numbers have fallen.
And this decrease is the first since numbers began rising back in 2016.
There does remain, however, a cluster of TB cases in Cavan and Monaghan, and across the entire border region.
Cavan farmer and ICSA animal Health chairman, Hugh Farrell says there was 78 less herds restricted last year than the previous year.
And this, he added, signifies that Ireland is "starting to move in the right direction".
