A Cavan woman has been named an "Unsung Hero" at national awards event

A Cavan woman has been named an "Unsung Hero" for performing live concerts for cocooners during Covid.

Talented singer/songwriter Ruby O'Kelly entertained the elderly and housebound in her community over the course of the pandemic.

Ruby was selected for a the MACE Unsung Heros Child and Youth Awards in recognition of her using her talents to bring joy into people's lives and building relationships with those she sang to.

The awards are in place to honour the young people across Ireland who go the extra mile to make a difference and stimulate community spirit.
