Commemorations will take place across the UK and France today - honouring those who took part the D-Day operation 80 years ago.

Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6th 1944 - with the battle in Northern France paving the way for an Allied victory in the World War Two.

A lone piper's marked exactly 80 years since the first Allied troops landed in Normandy on D-Day - part of events to mark the largest seaborne invasion in military history. World leaders including Joe Biden, Emmanuel Macron and Britain's King Charles will join veterans in the north of France.
