7 motorists across Cavan and Monaghan were detected speeding on 'National Slow Down Day' last Friday.
Over 140 thousand vehicles were checked between 7am Friday morning and 7am on Saturday morning, 211 of these were found to be speeding.
One motorist in Cavan was clocked at 52 kms over the speed limit.
A motorist was clocked at 132km/h in an 80km/h Zone on the N87 at Gartaquill Milltown Cavan staying in the 80km zone another motorist was clocked at 123km/h in an 80km/h Zone on the R179 at Clonsedy Carrickmacross Monaghan, while in Drumbear in Monaghan a driver was detected travelling at 78km/h in a 50km/h Zone.
The Go-safe van detected a motorist at 85km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the Clones Road Monaghan Monaghan, another travelling at 84km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the Dublin Road Cavan.
On the N2 Drumcaw Monaghan a motorist was detected doing 110km/h in an 80km/h Zone and a driver on the R188 Doocassan Drung in Cavan was travelling at 78km/h in a 60km/h Zone.
The operation has ended but Gardai continue to appeal to drivers to slow down and comply with speed limits, to help reduce the number of speed related collisions on our roads.
