A 60 megawatt battery storage facility has gone live in Monaghan.
The site at Lisdrumdoagh, just outside Monaghan town, is operated by RWE Renewables and is its largest battery storage unit to date.
The aim of the project is to help balance intermittency in electricity generation and provide a back up to outages in the national grid.
