50 brand new social homes have been confirmed for Monaghan Town. Senator Robbie Gallagher confirmed the news to Northern Sound this morning. According to Senator Gallagher, Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien gave approval in principal for Monaghan County Council to start construction at the Latlurcan site on the Dublin Road. This development will consist of two bed, three bed, four bed and five bed houses as well as social housing for age friendly persons and also people with disabilities. Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Gallagher said he was "delighted" to see progress made on the development. He added that housing is a "key issue" for the Monaghan area:
"This announcement is very much welcome as we all know housing is a key issue in Monaghan," said Senator Gallagher. "I'm delighted to see that progress has been made in relation to housing in this area and that we received the go ahead for another social housing development which is always very much welcomed and very much needed."
