A five-year-old girl from Northern Ireland has died with strep A. She is the ninth child in the UK to lose her life from the infection.
Gareth McCullough has been reading a statement from Black Mountain Primary School in Belfast, which the girl attended.
"To assist in supporting pupils and staff at this sad time, additional trained staff from the education authority critical incident response team, have been engaged and will provide support to the school.
"A letter has been sent from the school to parents informing them of our tragic loss and provides information on support services for our children during this incredibly sad time.
"We recognise this new my cause concern among our school community and we want to reassure parents that we continue to work closely with the health agency at this time," said the school.
